Veracious Leadership
Trust; founded on Truth and Honesty . . .
Veracious Leadership refers to that which is truthful, genuine, honest, and real. Leaders who lack these qualities are not peceived as strong leaders. Leaders are able to create an empowering vision that is capable of satisfying the goals of thethose who follow. Leaders central focus is on manifesting thei vision by being and doing.
We are able to identify the seven core habits or characteristics of the veracious leader. While certainly not the only five they have been vetted through research and experience.
VISION
Veracious leadership is founded on the ability to create an authentic and compelling vision that motivates, activates, and energizes others to genuinely participate in the fulfillment of this vision. As such the vision must represent truth and be communicated honestly whereby it will motivate others to participate in the fulfillment of the dream or vision.
FOCUS
The veracious leader must focus the attention of the entire group on the key issues associated with the implementation of the vision. This does not imply that the leader should not focus on anything else, but rather it means the leader is so focused on the execution of the mission or vision that he clearly understands and advocates those actions that advance the cause.
FORGET
Veracious Leaders are able to forget past indiscretions and maintain the focus of the organization on those activities that significantly advanced the vision or mission of the organization. They accomplish by creating an environment of small wins; this is a conflict by creating an innovative environment that is focused on continuous experimentation. This environment celebrates both success and failure as a meansaccomplishing the vision. Large tasks are broken down into small manageable chunks, and complex processes are reduced to their essentials elements. In this environment change begins at every level of the organization.
FACILITATION
The veracious leader acts in the capacity of a conductor or director that is guiding the efforts of the organization based on the actualization of a compelling vision. In this capacity the leader facilitates rather than dominates, she/he guides rather than directs, this leader motivates rather than mandates. This leader is not a doer, but rather facilitates the accomplishment of all the incremental tasks leading to the fulfillment of the goal.
FLEXIBLE
The veracious leader is constantly exposing the truth and honestly assessing the organizations progress towards achieving the mission. She/he is not afraid to change course or direction if it will facilitate the accomplishment of the overall goal; this leader is not afraid to implement new methods and procedures that increase the likelihood of goal achievement. The leader supports the efforts of the organization at every level and encourages and encourages them to try new things to accomplish their prime directive.
FOSTERING COLLABORATION
The veracious leader is able to develop cooperative goals whereby different groups within the organization are able to see the value interdependent complementary goals rather than competing goals. The leader recognizes that teamwork is essential for a productive organization and the collaboration is needed to develop the commitments and skills of the associates to solve problems and respond to environmental pressures. Fostering collaboration is not just a nice idea it is the key that leaders used to unlock the energies and talents available in their organization.
FUTURE
The veracious leader is able to create a new reality, based on the execution of the vision, for all of the stakeholders. The leader is able to crystallize this vision in each and every member of the organization. It is this compelling future or new reality that motivates all of the actions and activities of the stakeholders. As each new reality comes to fruition this leader sets new and inspiring goals for the organization and the beat goes on.
